Marcel Tournier’s Sonatine, Op. 30

A favorite of mine and my mother’s, this three movement is dedicated to the memory of one of Tournier’s fellow composers, Fernand Halphen.

Folk tunes and Nature

Three examples of pieces perfect for creating an elegant, relaxing atmosphere at receptions, weddings or other events!

Le Jardin Mouillé - Jacques de la Presle

This piece tells the story of a lush garden… starting with mist dew settling onto green leaves just before a storm rolls in. At first, it is just a gentle rain, but gradually it grows into a thunderstorm before, in the blink of an eye, it disappears again into quiet and peace.

Calming music

Rhett Barnwell’s Angel’s Hymn is a versatile piece perfect for creating a tranquil atmosphere while these excerpts from Marie-Claire Jamet’s arrangement of J. S. Bach’s Lute Suite No. 1, BWV 996 demonstrate the breadth of character captured in the piece.

This fantasy sonata for flute and harp presents the two sides of the water nymphs of Greek mytholology. On the one hand, they could be helpful and guide sailors safely home… on the other they could make men fall in love with them and drown them in the watery depths…
